Geoff Moss has stirred up a hornet's nest as a result of his decision to ban Wrexham Supporters Trust from contributing to the match day programme and ruling that none of the organisation's merchandise can be sold from the new Dragons superstore.
His justification is that the Trust is being unreasonable in refusing to consider a no-strings deal to hand over its £300,000-plus war chest for the greater good of the cash-strapped club, thereby following the example of the various supporters' groups that regularly fund-raise and donate the proceeds.
It could be construed that wanting a considerable something for nothing from fans seeking a shareholder stake in the club that they love reflects an arrogance that he alone knows what is best for Wrexham.
Nobody would deny that Moss has proved himself a very astute businessman and that he also deserves the gratitude of supporters for stepping in with Neville Dickens to buy the the club from the adminstrators just a couple of years ago.
But whatever his motives and regardless of of his capital outlay and the risks involved, he bought a business with not inconsiderable assets - the Racecourse and Colliers Park to name but two. And he will undoubtedly expect a return on his investment if and when decides to sell.
Yet he is seemingly hell-bent on denying fans - the lifeblood of any club - a similar opportunity to invest in what everyone hopes will be a more successful future for Wrexham.
For what it's worth I don't want to see Wrexham owned and run by a Supporters' Trust, but there is surely room at the Racecourse for an element of fans' ownership and representation on the club's board of directors.
By his somewhat petty act, Moss has instead tried to marginalise the club's biggest and most influential supporters' group - one that has the ear of the local authority, the town's MP and the Welsh Assembly government.
Only time will tell if he succeeds and his action is in the best interests of the club
